The Odyssey Program is a focus option for Portland Public Schools and designed around the Ten Essential components of our education model, developed, tested and successfully implemented today at Hayhurst School.
This unique learning experience offers Experiential Learning where students explore literature, writing, science, history, geography, art, drama and more through the exciting lens of history, including Visual and Performing Arts, Extended Field Studies and enrichment programs, Rigorous Academics, Team-based Learning including leadership training, and a small, motivating learning community emphasizing problem solving, communication skills, and discovery, multi-age classrooms for grades K-1-2, 3-4-5 and 6-7-8, Award Winning Teachers and a highly active Parent/Volunteer community, and a history of Excellent Results where students have consistently outperformed district averages on ALL benchmark exams.

2014 Information Nights for the Odyssey Program
The Odyssey Program is open to all PPS students as well as out of district students and families. We encourage all interested parents to attend one of our upcoming 2013/2014 Odyssey Informational Nights. You must attend one meeting if you plan to enroll.

Kindergarten Round Up for the Odyssey Program is February 20th, 6:00pm
The Odyssey Program is a special type of Portland Public School, known as a Focus Option Program. As such, it is open to all PPS as well as out of district students and families. If you are interested in applying to attend Odyssey, please:
1. Attend an Informational Night.
This is a mandatory step in the process of applying to Odyssey. At Info Night you will be asked to fill out a Statement of Understanding, which indicates that you have attended an Info Night and understand what the Odyssey Program is.
2. Submit a PPS application form, listing Odyssey as your first choice school.
You may complete and submit your application online at the PPS Website(http://www.pps.k12.or.us/schools-c/make_a_choice.php) or in person by mail to the PPS Enrollment and Transfer Office(http://www.pps.k12.or.us/departments/enrollment-transfer/). Please visit the PPS website for further important details about the Transfer and Enrollment Process, as it relates to your application to Odyssey.
3. Read and sign the Odyssey Statement of Understanding (as described above in #1) and return it to the Hayhurst School office.
4. If you have any other questions regarding the Odyssey application process, transfer or enrollment, please either contact the Hayhurst School office or the PPS Enrollment and Transfer office.
