Dear Families,
The school year is off to a great start!  Included in this post are updates about volunteer opportunities, student led conference sign ups, performance and guild faire, field study, and important dates for the school year.

Volunteer Opportunities
:

We have many needs for volunteers:
  • Science helpers:  On Wednesday afternoons we have hands-on Science lessons.  It would be great to have some parent helpers assisting the teams with conducting the experiments and clean up.  Science is from 12:30-2:00 on Wednesday afternoon.  If you are interested in volunteering as a Science helper please contact Miss LeVan for more information:  alevan@pps.net

  • Team Mentors:  If you are interested in helping mentor a team during teaming times on Monday and Thursday please contact Miss LeVan for more information:  alevan@pps.net

  • Guilds:  There are a lot of opportunities to be a guild master or helper.  The following guilds still need filled: Blockmaking/Printmaking, Brewers, Chandlers, Cloth Dyers, Herbalists, Leatherworkers, Potters, Soapmakers, Bookbinding, Weavers, Basketmakers, Milliners, Goodwives and Jewelers. Please contact Mrs. Sexton if you are interested in helping: msexton@pps.net

  • Field Study: Chaperones, Clatsop Crew, and Chuckwagon members are needed for the spring field study. Contact Mrs. Sexton for more information: msexton@pps.net

  • Performance: We will need parent volunteers for set design, production (helping directors with various tasks-Leading Singing or Dancing), program design, helping with set up and clean up on the day of the performance, photographer and filming on the day of the performance, and line coaching during rehearsals (rehearsals will be Tuesdays and Fridays beginning in November from 2:30-4:30).  If you are interested in helping please contact Mrs. Marron: dmarron@pps.net

Student Led Conferences:  Student Led Conferences are Wednesday, October 29th and Thursday, October 30th from 8:00am-8:00pm.  Please sign up with your student’s Literature teacher.  Conference sign up sheets can be found outside of room 17.

Guilds: Guilds will begin on the afternoon of Friday, October 24th, and will be conducted every Friday afternoon from 12:30-2:00. Please plan on arriving 10 to 15 minutes early for set-up. The last day of guilds will be Friday, January 23rd.  We will have a guild master/helper orientation on Thursday, October 16th at 2:30 in room 17.

We must have parents help with these Guilds, otherwise they cannot take place. Relatives or good friends willing to donate their time are also ok!!  We would like TWO parents/adults per guild, that way if someone is gone one week, the other can cover.

Performance & Guild Faire: This years performance is entitled “The Birth of America” and will be held on Sunday February 8th along with the Guild Faire.  Performance auditions will be on October 16th from 2:30-4:00.
